Total Failure, Media Portal installed all sorts of things and slowed the boot up time to worse than XP. Windows 10 couldn't find a driver for the USB TV tuner, despite using the compatibility assistant. I uninstalled media portal and the ultrabook (ASUS Core i7 8GB DDR3 RAM) is back to its zippy self, booting in 8 seconds as advertised.
My old Kaiser Bas USB TV tuner when plugged into windows 8 ultrabook automatically installed a suitable driver, which carried over to windows 8.1 Kaiser Bas no longer makes them and has no software for windows 8 and above so I purchased media centre whichworked fine. I was aware it wasn't supported in windows 10, but liked windows 10 on a PC so upgraded the ultrabook thinking I could use the freeware Media Portal.

I suspect Iwont bother but I was surprised at what happened because everything else I have tried works in windows 10 (except Lightscribe Template Labeller, where the latest version is incompatible, but the previous version works fine! I have a lightscribedrive on 2 computers behaves same on both). I indicated in my post that the drivers installed automatically in windows 8, and the manufacturer doesn't support it so there are no drivers beyond windows 7 on their website. I found some posts about this with other suggested drivers which didn't work,I then used compatibility mode for them and it said windows 7 mode, installed the drivers but they don't work for this device 9 they are generic TV tuner drivers).

What I need is to locate the driver in windows 8 and use compatibility mode. Will it still bethere somewhere in 'windows Old'?also need some basic freeware player software-Media Portal is bloated and slows the computer, unless anyone knows how to use it in a cut down mode, or any other freeware to replace media centre?
